Sharpening notes

No one should use any power sharpener they find at GOW unless they
have the permission of the power sharpener owner.

During the 2006 GOW one student cut a slice out out of a power
sharpener's felt wheel and another carver lost control of his gouge missing
his head by inches.

Students: please sharpen your tools before you come to GOW, and bring
your own sharpening stones.
Do not assume that sharpening systems will be available.

There will be a limited sharpening service available, meaning: don't expect
service on 250 tools.

Sharpening service by Joe Dillett will be as follow's.
All tools to be sharpened will be given to Joe in a container with the
persons name and number of tools. Joe does not want them laid by the
sharpener with a note or given to him loose. The cost will be $1 for light
touch up work on a knife or chisel and $2 for significant metal removal
(nicks or changing the angle).
Broken tools that need a total regrind may be $3.
