What’s GOW? It’s a big friendly Gathering of Woodcarvers held at the Sandwich
Fairgrounds, September 28, Monday noon, thru Saturday noon, October 2, 2009.

GOW offers 40+ woodcarving seminars (for all carving levels) taught by 15+ instructors, in
enclosed buildings (used for commercial display during the fair). Classes include (but are
not limited to) bird carving, decoys, relief, in-the-round, busts, bark carving, and caricatures,
as well as wood burning, tool sharpening, and drawing classes.

Day classes run from 9 am to 5 pm with an hour for lunch. Full-day GOW classes are $10
plus material, half-day classes $5 plus material, and two-day classes $20 plus material. All
class payments go directly to the instructors to help cover their expenses. Fair ground
buildings, equipped with fairly good lighting and electricity, allow GOW to offer night classes
again this year.

All attendees are encouraged to pre-register to attend the GOW as soon as possible using
the Camping and Classes buttons to the left.  This will allow for a much shorter time in line at
the registration table.

More exciting news.... We are offering a free booklet of "Tips That Made Me A Better
Woodcarver" to all attending the Opening Ceremony of GOW 2009, Sept 28 at 6:30 PM at
the Sandwich Fair grounds. If you would like a chance to get your tip in the booklet send it to
Joe Dillett at
jdillett@thecarvingshop.net . He will help you prepare it for the booklet and
present it at the Opening Ceremony for a chance to win (prize yet to be determined).
