Red Top Mountain,
GA
Named for the soil's rich red color caused by high iron-ore content,
Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area for iron. The
park is located on a 1,950-acre peninsula along Lake Allatoona in
northern Georgia.
Campsites are large and wooded, with a tent pad, grill and fire ring.
There are 92 Tent, Trailer, RV Sites. Be sure to drive around the
grounds before choosing a site. Many are located right on the lake.
Bathhouses had showers. This is the first park I've seen with two
campground host sites. However, only one was occupied when I stayed
here.
I did not spend as much time as I would have liked in the park
because my daughter was in tennis and softball tournaments all
weekend. The park had very much to offer and I look forward to
staying here again with Alysa in the near future if I can get her away
from the ballfield.
Entrance sign to the park.

Nice level sites with very good tree cover.

Looking up from the slope heading down to the lake.

John's truck and my car by the site.

My son's tent in the background.

Just a nice rock formation close to the campsite.
