| Red Top Mountain, GA | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Named for the soil's rich red color caused by high iron-ore content, Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area for iron. The park is located on a 1,950-acre peninsula along Lake Allatoona in northern Georgia. |

| Campsites are large and wooded, with a tent pad, grill and fire ring. There are 92 Tent, Trailer, RV Sites. Be sure to drive around the grounds before choosing a site. Many are located right on the lake. Bathhouses had showers. This is the first park I've seen with two campground host sites. However, only one was occupied when I stayed here. I did not spend as much time as I would have liked in the park because my daughter was in tennis and softball tournaments all weekend. The park had very much to offer and I look forward to staying here again with Alysa in the near future if I can get her away from the ballfield. |
