Lynchburg,
TN
I didn't camp here, this was a side trip from our camping trip to Old
Stone Fort which is only 25 miles away. I don't drink, but I found the
process very interesting. Lynchburg is the only location in the world
where Jack Daniel's is made and to top it off, the county is dry. You
have to drive 13 miles from the distillery to the nearest county to
purchase the whiskey. The tour is free and at the end they give you
some of the best lemonaide I have ever tased in my life
As the whiskey ages inside the barrel, the wood contracts and expands
(as everything does) with changes in the surrounding climate. The
whiskey is allowed to move in and out of the wood as this happens, and
the exposed compounds mix with the whiskey. The mixing gives the
whiskey a smoky flavor and the amber tint.
