Metropolis, IL
There are 50 Class A vehicular campsites with electricity, a
disposal station and a shower building, tent camping, and a
separate group campground.

Fort Massac SP is a  nice campground.  When we camped there it
was clean and well maintained.  Site size is OK, very level and
with decent spacing.  Water spigots are spaced well apart.  The
feeling I got from this campground was more like a large picnic
area 'made into a campground'.  Now don't get me wrong, it's
not, but with the openness and lack on trees on the interior loop,
that was the impression I received.  The sites are a basic gravel
"driveway".  Picnic tables and grill are in the grass.

I would recommend Fort Massac as a good place to stay.
However, there isn't much to do in the area unless you are a huge
Superman fan or planning to visit one of the local casino's.  We
camped there as a quick overnight stop on our way to the
GOW,
and it served this purpose very well.

The pictures below were snapped during my stay in late Sept
2009.  Enjoy.
