This dog was my first attempt at carving an animal. I also used a different method for the first time on finishing him.  I did not seal after carving, but instead, painted straight to the wood. I named him Conan, which is Scottish for "wee dog".

With the dog, I painted with an acrylic paint wash.  Then finished with boil linseed oil.

I like the way colors came out using this method.

Once again, starting with a blank cut-out.

Just about half way completed.
